Rawlins Family Practice Clinic

Rawlins, Wyoming
From Pharmacy to Family Practice

In the heart of downtown Rawlins, MOA ARCHITECTURE transformed a former Bi-Rite Healthmart pharmacy into a fully modern outpatient family practice clinic for Memorial Hospital of Carbon County. The revitalized facility brings essential primary care services directly into the community, offering a welcoming and efficient setting for patients and providers. The redesigned clinic includes 10 exam rooms, dedicated pediatric rooms, procedure rooms, a full laboratory with private blood draw stations, X-ray services, staff offices, a call center, and separated sick and well waiting areas—all organized for clarity, comfort, and improved flow.

  • Adaptive Reuse

A Rural Clinic Reenvisioned

The project reimagined a dated retail shell as a place of care, connection, and community presence. Inspired by the need to provide high-quality healthcare in a rural setting, the design team focused on creating a space that felt approachable and reassuring to patients of all ages. Transforming the building began with rethinking the entry sequence and opening the interior footprint to allow natural light, intuitive wayfinding, and a stronger sense of openness. A redesigned exterior—with new materials and a refreshed architectural character—signals the building’s new identity and its role as a modern healthcare anchor for downtown Rawlins.

Care That Keeps Rawlins Close to Home

By repurposing an existing structure, the project delivers a high-functioning clinical environment while supporting the economic vitality of downtown. Patients who previously traveled outside the area for routine or specialized services can now access comprehensive family care close to home. The improved layout enhances provider workflow and patient privacy, while amenities such as separate waiting areas and dedicated pediatric spaces support a safer and more comfortable experience. The new clinic strengthens Memorial Hospital of Carbon County’s commitment to accessible rural healthcare and demonstrates the potential of thoughtful adaptive reuse to meet evolving community needs.
