Designing for Reflection, Connection, and Peace

The design was inspired by the principles of compassionate care, emphasizing comfort, privacy, and a connection to nature. Each patient room opens to garden views and private patios, creating spaces that support both healing and reflection. The spiritual center, a key element of the design, is integrated into the exterior garden, and the sloping roof forms and adjacent tower symbolize hope, uplift, and the continuity of life. The project reflects a belief that architecture can enhance the quality of life for patients and provide meaningful support to families during challenging times.

Exterior entrance featuring a large timber canopy structure with angled supports, brick seating walls, landscaped planting beds, and a modern combination of brick, glass, and metal façade elements.
Family lounge with a stone fireplace, wood built-in shelving, upholstered lounge chairs and sofas, round wood tables with chairs, pendant ceiling lights, and carpeted flooring beneath a wood-accent ceiling.
Elevating Hospice Care Through Thoughtful Design

The Denver Hospice establishes a model for patient-centered hospice care, offering private rooms, family gathering areas, and dedicated support spaces that enhance both comfort and dignity. By blending serene gardens, spiritual elements, and carefully considered interior spaces, the facility supports patients with complex medical needs while providing families with spaces for respite and reflection. The design also contributes to the neighborhood context with a scale and aesthetic that respects its residential surroundings, demonstrating that functional healthcare facilities can also be warm, humane, and inspiring.
