STRIDE North Aurora Family Health Services

Aurora, Colorado
Bringing Comprehensive Care Within Reach

North Aurora Family Health Services (NAFHS), operated by STRIDE Community Health Center, plays a critical role in expanding access to equitable, community-based care. Designed to help redirect patients from costly emergency room visits, the re-envisioned facility creates a comprehensive hub for medical, dental, mental health, substance abuse, pharmacy, and other essential services for underserved, uninsured, and working individuals in North Aurora. MOA ARCHITECTURE led the renovation of the existing clinic, enhancing its capacity and functionality while maintaining full operational continuity throughout construction.

Making Quality Healthcare Accessible

The project was driven by the belief that high-quality healthcare environments should be accessible to all. Through a collaborative design-build partnership with STRIDE and Pinkard, the team re-evaluated the clinic’s evolving needs and reimagined how the existing space could better support patients and providers. User-group charrettes revealed opportunities to streamline operations, elevate the patient experience, and create a more intuitive care environment. This led to the transformation of an underutilized office area into a full-service provider pod—complete with 10 exam rooms, two procedure rooms, a centralized nurse/work station, and lab space—along with a thoughtfully expanded and reconfigured pharmacy.

Lab room with wood cabinetry, solid-surface countertops, a stainless-steel sink, storage bins with medical supplies, diagnostic equipment, and wood-look flooring under bright ceiling lights.
Lobby interior with a wood-look floor, reception desk with a glass window, white waiting chairs, framed artwork, and a central corridor leading to exam rooms.
Turning Design Into Tangible Impact

The renovated NAFHS facility now enables STRIDE to serve 5,000 additional patients each year, significantly strengthening community health access in North Aurora. The new layout enhances privacy, improves care team communication, and increases workflow efficiency, creating a smoother and more dignified patient experience. Delivered 45 days ahead of schedule and $80,000 under budget, the project demonstrates the power of collaborative planning and responsive design. Today, NAFHS stands as a more effective, more welcoming, and more resilient resource for the community it serves.
