Casper-Natrona County Health Department

Casper, Wyoming
A New Home for Community Health

The new Casper-Natrona County Health Department facility in Casper is a 35,934 square foot public health campus designed to support more than 50 services for Natrona County residents. Located on a 9 acre site, the building replaces an outdated facility that no longer met operational needs. The new home brings clinical services, outreach programs, rapid response functions, and community training spaces together in a flexible, light-filled environment. Completed ahead of schedule and under budget, the project reflects strong collaboration and a shared commitment to community health.

Scope

  • New Construction
Built Around the People Inside

The former building had been outgrown for years. Waiting areas were tight, departments overlapped, and staff worked with limited access to natural light and restorative space. During COVID, the need for adaptability and rapid response space became even more urgent. The design began with a simple goal: create a building that supports the people who support the community.

The sweeping form of the building responds to Casper’s southwest winds, guiding visitors along a clear central spine. Natural light anchors corridors and workspaces, while biophilic materials and colors reinforce wellbeing and connection to place. Flexibility was built into the plan, allowing new services such as the Natrona County Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program to be integrated during construction without disrupting progress.

A Brighter Future for Public Health

Today, the building transforms how public health services are delivered in Natrona County. Visitors move through intuitive and dignified spaces. Rapid response areas support emergency needs. Training rooms and board spaces serve both staff and the broader community.

Staff now work in environments filled with natural light, improved comfort, and dedicated break areas. The result is a facility that not only improves operations but also honors the wellbeing of the people who serve Casper every day.
