Casper College - Tobin Visual Arts Center

Casper, Wyoming
Forging New Paths in Art Education

Situated at the east entrance of Casper College, the new Visual Arts Building provides a modern, purpose-built home for the College’s visual arts programs. Replacing the previous facility, which no longer met accreditation requirements, the building includes state-of-the-art classrooms, studios, and shops for a variety of disciplines. Programs accommodated include wood and metalworking, welding, ceramics, printmaking, photography, and gallery exhibition, all housed within a thoughtfully designed, two-story facility.

Showcasing Process Through Thoughtful Architecture

MOA ARCHITECTURE collaborated with HGA Architects to design a building that celebrates creativity while acting as a welcoming gateway to the campus. A double-height, light-filled lobby serves as both an entry and gallery space, showcasing student work to the campus community. The minimalist exterior—brick and white-painted concrete with clean, simple lines—creates a “blank canvas” that reflects the creativity inside. Strategically placed full-height windows maximize daylight in studios and highlight the hands-on work occurring within, reinforcing the connection between learning, process, and place.

A Vibrant Home for Creativity and Collaboration

The new facility provides Casper College with flexible, accredited-ready spaces for all visual arts disciplines while strengthening the College’s presence at the campus entrance. The sweeping plaza and landscape design create an inviting environment for students, faculty, and visitors. Carefully planned construction phasing allowed the previous building to remain operational during construction, minimizing disruption to programs. Today, the Visual Arts Building supports a dynamic, collaborative, and inspiring environment for student learning, artistic exploration, and community engagement.
